'Lucas is just a small boy, only two years, when I start to realise and admit to myself that he is different. It is hard to tell what it is that differentiates him from other kids. In the beginning it was more of a feeling, like a dispirited notion of the great sorrow that should strike us.'
When Jenny Lexhed and her husband gets their first child Lucas they are living a happy life. They are married, has just bought a house and the company they built up together is blossoming. But with the arrival of their son, a feeling of anxiety slips into their life. What starts as a feeling soon becomes a conviction: Lucas is not like other kids. Everything indicates that their son is autistic. Will he ever be able to speak?
Jenny decides to do what ever she can to help Lucas live an independent life. We get to follow Jenny who is thrown between hope and despair. The chase for a treatment to help Lucas makes her more and more desperate and manic, and the story gets a dramatic change: Jenny suffers from a psychosis of exhaustion and gets forced into a psychiatric clinic. Here, another journey takes on – the journey back to the strong, healthy life of hers..
